Wide Angle Seated Forward Bend (Upavishta Konasana) is a beneficial posture for all yogis and non-yoga practitioners alike. It stretches the hamstrings and inner thighs, opens the hips and back of the body, stimulated the abdominal organs, and strengthens your spine. Not to mention the specific therapeutic applications of arthritis, sciatica, and detoxifying the kidneys.
Wanna pause and let it be in this Upavishta Konasana? We highly recommend it. Each one of us is probably in a different stage of this posture even as pictured above. Learning and remember to flex our feet is important. Why? It helps assist in rooting the thighs outwardly, pinning the other thighs against the floor, to that the knee is pointed at the ceiling instead of rotated inwardly. During this stage of the posture it’s also important to keep the integrity of the spine long so that the stretch happens in the thighs, hamstrings, and hip flexers… allowing one to receive the ultimate benefits. 🙂
