We are so excited to welcome back a former DHY instructor for the entire month of June! And more specifically have her teach Yin Yoga every Sunday of the month at 6pm! You will not want to miss out this month. Be sure to mark your calanders! 🗓
Yin Yoga is a great complementary practice for all other classes. While initially this style of yoga can seem passive and boring, a yin practice can be quite challenging due to the length postures are being held (mainly floor-based asanas utilizing blocks and blankets). We can remain in the postures anywhere from one to five minutes to target the connective and deeper tissues. The muscles stay relaxed throughout the practice of yin yoga while focussing on sensations in the body, to make slight adjustments continuously finding your own personal edge. Yin Yoga’s gentle long held postures bring a feeling of lightness in the body, a deep release of the connective tissue and increasing flexibility and range of motion.
Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to being exercised. You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.
