I started my yoga journey 5 years ago at Destin Hot Yoga. I originally started doing yoga to battle the havoc I wreaked on my body during college…I was also interested in eastern cultures and meditation, so yoga intrigued me in that regard.
What brings me to my every day is receiving my daily zen. The practice keeps me balanced, mentally and physically. It’s an addictive practice and when I miss a day or two, I feel it. I start to crave the sweat and the heat. I played a lot of sports growing up and practiced martial arts daily for almost ten years. Hot yoga was a good transition for me as an adult to have a daily practice at something. Being on my mat gives me a place to practice presence and get a hell of a workout while doing it.
The intensity is what I love most about Destin Hot Yoga. The space. It’s like my sweat box dojo. I’ve dedicated myself to the practice and I believe I’m a better person because of it. It teaches you to get comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. Life can get uncomfortable at times for all of us and using the techniques practiced everyday like breath control and meditation is so beneficial in both yoga and life. I credit DHY for much of the positive growth I’ve seen in my life over the past 5 years and hope to continue the practice for years to come.
